This very impressive offering of wines from the outstanding 2005 Bordeaux vintage is all from one source and was purchased En Primeur in 2007 from Mitchell & Son who imported the wines directly from the chateaux and shipped to Dublin where they have been stored carefully ever since.
2005 vintage BORDEAUX.
This vintage is the 2nd driest vintage year since 1897 and the 5th hottest vintage in 110 years which all adds up to it being a superb year for both red and sweet wines.
St Emilion;
St Emilion had some difficulties where the skins were so dense, the tannin levels were difficult to control in some areas of the commune.
St Estephe ;
This appellation did not experience the same difficulties as St Emilion and the wines have great structure and length.
Sauternes;
Weather conditions, heat and rainfall came perfectly timed and the botrytis performed in copybook style.
All notes from Peter Dunne of Mitchell & Son
