Sean Keating PPRHA HRSA 1889-1977 STUDY OF A GIRL Chalk, 15'' x 12'' (38 x 30.5 cm), inscribed indistinctly, signed and dated 1934. Note: This a drawing of Aida Kelly(1915-1979) who married Maurice MacGonigal in 1940. She was often used as a Head model by artists. Owing to her striking dark looks she's often used by Irish artists like Keating & Leo Whelan of the period as an emblematic Irish type...although she was in fact of mixed ancestry...part Sephardic Spanish/English...she was also a painter and her banner for the Spanish republic is in the Labour History Museum at Beggars Bush. - Thankyou to Ciaran MacGonigal for this information
