THE MODEL PK24 â˜HAMMOCK CHAIRâ™, BY POUL KJÆRHOLM, for Fritz Hansen, Denmark cane, stainless steel and leather, designed 1965, 86 x 153 x 66.5 cm, constructed 2005 The PK24 chaise longue chair, with its easy curves and organic shape, stands out as perhaps the most recognizable chair in Poul Kjærholmâ™s work. Inspiration for this chair comes from the Rococo period and the French chaise longue â" long chair â" that featured the same curve and size. With this version of the PK24 easy chair Kjærholm combined two materials, steel and wicker, which he would later be recognised for in several of his designs. Known as the â˜Hammock Chairâ™, to stress that it functioned by suspending the body between two points, it has no physical connection between the main parts. Instead it is kept together by gravity and the friction between the elements.

  • How bidding works
  • In order to bid you need to register a deVeres account. When registered you can leave bids on multiple lots at any stage up until the closing time, whereby the highest bidder wins the lot. Bidding increments are approx. 10%, e.g
    €0 - €49 by €5, €50 - €199 by €10
    €200 - €499 by €20, €500 - €999 by €50
    €1,000 - €1,999 by €100, etc

At any point you can leave a maximum bid, representing the highest price you are prepared to pay for a particular lot. Bidding only advances when there is competition from a rival bidder. In that case the system bids on your behalf, only up to the maximum if required. All bids are relayed to you be email, along with notification if you have been outbid.

If a bid is received in the final minute the clock resets back to 60 seconds, in order to give other bidders an opportunity to respond.

All maximum bids are confidential and not disclosed. The system will endeavor to purchase the lot for you for the least price. Bids are subject to buyer’s premium of 25% (incl vat), with no additional charges.

For the upcoming auction on February 2nd, the lots will commence closing at 6pm. Each will close with 60 seconds between each lot. Should the bidding time be extended on any lot it will NOT extend the time on the subsequent lots. Therefore lots may be sold out of numerical sync.

In the event of a tied bid, the preference will be given to the bid submitted first. The second bidder will receive immediate notification of being outbid.
