Ivan Sutton b.1944 THE STORYTELLERS FUNERAL AT STRAND GRAVEYARD, INIS OIRR, ARAN ISALNDS Oil on board, 20'' x 30'' (51 x 76.3 cm), signed; inscribed verso. Inis Oirr is the smallest of the Aran Islands. The medieval graveyard is on the beach at Teampall Chaomhain. The funeral procession is of historical interest and the cortège crosses the beach to the graveyards imposing gate. The women are dressed in black-shawls with red petticoats.
