THE 'BARCELONA CHAIR AND STOOL', BY MIES VAN DER ROHE, ITALIAN, with tanned leather cushions, (2), marked 'Made in Italy',no makers label. Excellent quality. Provenance: Purchased in the 1980s from Mike Price, Inside Interiors. Created by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe for his 1929 German Pavilion at the International Exhibition in Barcelona, the Barcelona Collectionâ™s pure composition came to epitomize Modern architecture. From the hand-buffed stainless or chrome frame to the individual leather squares carefully welted together, each Barcelona piece is a tribute to traditional craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail.

  • How bidding works
  • In order to bid you need to register a deVeres account. When registered you can leave bids on multiple lots at any stage up until the closing time, whereby the highest bidder wins the lot. Bidding increments are approx. 10%, e.g
    €0 - €49 by €5, €50 - €199 by €10
    €200 - €499 by €20, €500 - €999 by €50
    €1,000 - €1,999 by €100, etc

At any point you can leave a maximum bid, representing the highest price you are prepared to pay for a particular lot. Bidding only advances when there is competition from a rival bidder. In that case the system bids on your behalf, only up to the maximum if required. All bids are relayed to you be email, along with notification if you have been outbid.

If a bid is received in the final minute the clock resets back to 60 seconds, in order to give other bidders an opportunity to respond.

All maximum bids are confidential and not disclosed. The system will endeavor to purchase the lot for you for the least price. Bids are subject to buyer’s premium of 25% (incl vat), with no additional charges.

For the upcoming auction on February 2nd, the lots will commence closing at 6pm. Each will close with 60 seconds between each lot. Should the bidding time be extended on any lot it will NOT extend the time on the subsequent lots. Therefore lots may be sold out of numerical sync.

In the event of a tied bid, the preference will be given to the bid submitted first. The second bidder will receive immediate notification of being outbid.
